
Eelios is a rich in omega-3 fatty acids innovative eco-friendly barbecue-type sweet and smoky flavoured ready-to-eat sauce. It contains Greek food industry byproducts of high importance (smoked eel fat, tomato seeds and peels, olive cake strained yoghurt whey). It has high antioxidant levels (high lycopene level from the raw materials and enriched with natural rosemary extract).

“EeliΩ3s” aims to fulfill both consumer needs and tomato industry sector needs to design novel, eco-friendly, convenient and attractive products, compatible with the latest trends of healthy nutrition. The developed product contains an extremely rich in omega-3 fatty acids smoke eel industry byproduct instead of the liquid smoke that gives it the desired barbecue sauce smoked flavour and provides the health boosting properties offered by the omega-3 rich foods in a new-type tomato-based ketchup product. It has exceptional sensory qualities (sweet taste, smoky flavour, consistent texture, vivid orange to red colour) and can be used as flavouring sauce, marinade, basting, condiment or topping for different type of foods including fish and sea foods, meat and meat products, and snack foods. It is shelf stable (shelf life at room temperature >12 months) and is packaged into a re-usable glass bottle.
